Curtis LP

Curtis Mayfield founded Curtom, his own label, in 1968 while still fronting The Impressions, then left the group in 1970 to release this himself that September. It topped the Billboard Soul LPs chart and reached number 19 on the pop albums chart, with (Don't Worry) If There Is A Hell Below, We're All Going to Go reaching the R&B top five and Move On Up charting in the UK. The sound hardens into funk, the lyrics turn toward poverty and Black identity.
