Bob Dylan at Budokan 2LP

At Budokan catches Dylan in Tokyo in early 1978, backed by a band that blew his old songs up into horn-heavy, backing-vocal-stacked arrangements, more Vegas revue than folk club. Robert Christgau hated it, plenty of critics agreed, but it still cracked the Top 15 and went gold, because apparently audiences didn't need the critics' permission. Divisive then, a cult favorite now, and still one of the stranger ways to hear Dylan rework his own songbook live.
