Mermaid Avenue Vol. II picks up where the first record left off, setting more of Woody Guthrie's unused lyric sheets to new music after his daughter Nora handed Billy Bragg the archive. Fifteen songs landed on Elektra like a second shipment from the same warehouse, and Robert Christgau graded the results an A-minus. The album later surfaced again inside the box set Mermaid Avenue: The Complete Sessions, filed next to a third volume nobody had heard before.
