Bloom 2LP

Ben Bohmer built his reputation on electronic music that can't decide whether it wants to fill a dancefloor or just sit in a dark room feeling things, and Bloom, his first album in three years and first for Ninja Tune after 2019's Breathing, doesn't resolve the argument so much as stage it twice. Lykke Li writes and sings on "Hiding," Danish singer Malou returns from his debut for "Beautiful," and Martin Kohlstedt adds a piano line to opener "Martin." The dancefloor cuts and the quiet songwriting sit side by side without apologizing for each other.
