The Shape of Blue CD

Oscar Portar built Arankai from scratch in the Midwest starting in 2022, welding alternative metal to nu metal and metalcore without losing the melodic, emotional undertow. The Shape of Blue picks up where 2025's A Portrait of Red left off in his planned trilogy, kicking off with "Helter Skelter" and a guest turn from buffalo_farm before swinging between hard-hitting cuts and quieter, reflective ones. Portar keeps the heavy and the tender stacked right next to each other instead of picking a lane.
