A Portrait of Red CD

Hopeless Records backs Arankai's debut full-length with A Portrait of Red, an alternative metal record that borrows its vocal delivery from hip-hop rather than standard metal phrasing. Reviewers have called it blunt and emotionally raw more than technically flashy, built on themes of betrayal, self-destruction, and recovery. Guest vocalists Josh Mowery and Dal Av add texture without crowding out the band's own voice, which is really the point of a debut like this: let the songwriting carry the weight, not the guest list.
