About Teddy Swims
Jaten Dimsdale, performing as Teddy Swims, was born in Conyers, Georgia on September 25, 1992. He launched his career through YouTube viral covers of popular songs across multiple genres in the late 2010s. The Swims acronym stands for 'Someone Who Isn't Me Sometimes' (reference to his eclectic genre-crossing approach). He signed with Warner Records and released his 2023 debut LP I've Tried Everything but Therapy (Part 1). The single Lose Control became a international viral hit, reaching #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in March 2024 ('longest climb to #1' record for the chart at the time). His 2025 follow-up I've Tried Everything but Therapy (Part 2) continued his trajectory.
Sound and style
Teddy Swims's sound combines pop soul, R&B, blue-eyed soul, contemporary R&B, country soul, and pop with his distinctive powerful vocal delivery (use of melismatic, soul-inflected phrasing), and genre-crossing approach drawing on contemporary soul, country, R&B, and pop traditions.
