Sunny Day Real Estate formed in Seattle, Washington in 1992 around Jeremy Enigk (born July 16, 1974, Seattle), Dan Hoerner, William Goldsmith, and Nate Mendel. They are widely cited as one of the foundational acts of second-wave emo - establishing the foundational template for the genre's emotive vocal delivery, intricate guitar arrangements, and confessional lyrical content alongside contemporaries like Mineral, the Promise Ring, and Cap'n Jazz.
