Stick Figure

Stick Figure is an American reggae rock project formed in San Francisco around 2005 by Scott Woodruff, who played every instrument on the early records before building a full touring band. Set in Stone (2015) and World on Fire (2019) are the go-to starting points — dubby, sun-soaked, and released on Woodruff's own Ruffwood label. About Stick Figure

Stick Figure formed in San Francisco, California around 2005 as a solo recording project of Scott Woodruff. Woodruff recorded all instruments himself on early Stick Figure releases. The project expanded to a touring band by the early 2010s. They have been associated with the contemporary American reggae rock revival scene alongside contemporaries like Slightly Stoopid, Iration, Tribal Seeds, and Rebelution. Their mascot Cocoa the Tour Dog (a Boston Terrier) is part of the band's identity and extensive merchandise. They have continued releasing material across multiple decades.

Sound and style

Stick Figure's sound combines reggae rock, reggae, roots reggae, ska influences, dub, alternative reggae, and Cali reggae with Woodruff's distinctive vocal delivery, virtuosic multi-instrumental production approaches (use of dub-influenced atmospheric textures), and lyrical content addressing relationships, contemporary themes, and American West Coast reggae traditions.
