Spiritbox is a Canadian metalcore and progressive metal band formed in Victoria, British Columbia in 2017 by married duo Courtney LaPlante and Mike Stringer. LaPlante swings from ethereal cleans to full-throated extremes, and the Billboard top-15 debut Eternal Blue (2021) is the obvious first stop before Tsunami Sea (2025). Spiritbox formed in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada in 2017 around Courtney LaPlante (vocals) and Mike Stringer (guitar). LaPlante and Stringer are married. They had previously been members of the Canadian metalcore band Iwrestledabearonce. They are widely cited as one of the most distinctive contemporary metalcore and progressive metal acts, with viral attention through TikTok for their 2020 single Holy Roller and 2022 single Hurt You. Their 2021 debut Eternal Blue debuted at number 13 on the Billboard 200. Their 2025 follow-up Tsunami Sea continued their trajectory.
