Sierra Ferrell was born in Charleston, West Virginia on November 19, 1988. She launched her recording career in the 2010s with busking and DIY touring activity. She has been based in Nashville, Tennessee since the mid-2010s. She signed with Rounder Records for her 2021 debut Long Time Coming, which received critical attention. Her 2024 follow-up Trail of Flowers became a commercial breakthrough, with the single American Dreaming receiving critical attention. She won four Grammy Awards at the 2025 ceremony, including Best Americana Album (Trail of Flowers), Best Americana Performance, Best American Roots Performance, and Best American Roots Song (American Dreaming).
