Rebelution formed in Isla Vista, California in 2004 around then-UC Santa Barbara students Eric Rachmany, Marley D. Williams, Rory Carey, and Matt Velasquez (Velasquez departed early; Wesley Finley joined as drummer). They have been associated with the contemporary American reggae rock revival alongside contemporaries like Stick Figure, Slightly Stoopid, SOJA, and Iration.
