Their 2016 album Cardinal was a critical breakthrough. In November 2017, Hall was accused of sexual coercion by an unnamed person who had previously been romantically involved with him; he apologized and the band canceled the upcoming 2018 tour, with career consequences. The band continued releasing material across the late 2010s and 2020s, with reduced commercial trajectory. Nandi Rose (Half Waif) has been a vocalist and keyboardist since 2016. Their 2025 album Pictures continued their trajectory.
