About Overmono
Overmono formed in London in 2015 around brothers Ed Russell (Tessela) and Tom Russell (Truss). Both brothers had solo careers in the UK electronic music scene prior to launching Overmono as a collaborative duo. They have been associated with the contemporary UK club, breakbeat, and post-dubstep scenes alongside contemporaries like Joy Orbison, Pearson Sound, and Bicep. Their 2023 debut LP Good Lies on XL Recordings received critical attention as one of the most important contemporary UK electronic music releases.
Sound and style
Overmono's sound combines electronic, UK garage, breakbeat, post-dubstep, ambient techno, IDM, and house with extensive sample integration (use of pitched vocal samples), atmospheric production approaches, and arrangements drawing on classic UK garage and breakbeat alongside contemporary club music influences.
