Olivia Dean Smith was born in London, England on September 5, 1999. She is of Jamaican and Guyanese heritage. She attended the BRIT School (London's famous performing arts school, with alumni including Adele, Amy Winehouse, FKA twigs, and many others). She launched her recording career in the late 2010s and signed with EMI Records. Her 2023 debut LP Messy received critical attention. Her 2025 follow-up The Art of Loving - featuring the breakthrough single Man I Need - was a commercial breakthrough and reached number one on the UK Albums Chart.
