María Natalia Lafourcade Silva was born in Mexico City on February 26, 1984. She launched her recording career as a teenager in the early 2000s. Her work has progressively explored multiple Mexican popular music traditions across her catalog - including Latin pop (her early material), bolero (Mujer Divina: Homenaje a Agustín Lara, 2012, paying tribute to the foundational Mexican bolero composer Agustín Lara), Mexican folk and son jarocho (Musas Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, 2017-2018, collaborating with Mexican folk duo Los Macorinos), and contemporary Latin alternative. Her 2022 album De Todas las Flores marked a creative return to original songwriting after the Mexican folk tribute period. She has won four Grammy Awards (Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album multiple times) and 18 Latin Grammy Awards.
