About Mt. Joy

Mt. Joy formed in Los Angeles in 2016 around Matt Quinn and Sam Cooper (high school friends originally from Philadelphia who reunited in LA after college). The band's name is a reference to Mount Joy, a hill in Valley Forge National Historical Park in Pennsylvania, where the founders frequently visited. They signed with Dualtone Records and released their self-titled debut Mt. Joy (2018). They have continued releasing material across multiple decades, building a touring audience in the contemporary indie folk and indie rock scenes.

Sound and style

Mt. Joy's sound combines indie folk, indie rock, folk rock, Americana, alternative rock, and indie pop with Quinn's distinctive vocal delivery and arrangements drawing on classic 1970s folk rock alongside contemporary indie folk traditions.
