About Militarie Gun
Militarie Gun formed in Los Angeles in 2020 around Ian Shelton, who launched the project initially as a pandemic-era solo recording outlet during the dissolution of his touring activity with Regional Justice Center. The band rapidly became active with the full-band live lineup. They signed with Loma Vista Recordings for Life Under the Gun (2023), which received critical attention as a defining document of the contemporary hardcore-indie crossover scene alongside contemporaries like Drain, Spy, Gel, and Gulch.
Sound and style
Militarie Gun's sound combines hardcore punk, post-hardcore, indie rock, alternative rock, melodic hardcore, and noise rock with Shelton's distinctive shouted/sung vocal delivery, dense layered guitar arrangements, and lyrical content addressing mental health, identity, and personal experience drawing on classic 1990s indie rock alongside contemporary hardcore traditions.
