The band's name was a reference to a jersey that bassist Brian Yale wore. Their debut Yourself or Someone Like You (1996) sold over 12 million copies in the United States alone (Diamond certified by the RIAA) - making them one of the most commercially successful pop rock acts of the late 1990s. Their work has been active across multiple decades with extended gaps between releases. Adam Gaynor departed in 2005.
