Maroon 5 is an American pop rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1994 as Kara's Flowers, reborn under the new name in 2001 with Adam Levine up front. Maroon 5 formed in Los Angeles in 1994 as Kara's Flowers (a high school band featuring Adam Levine, Jesse Carmichael, Mickey Madden, and Ryan Dusick). Kara's Flowers released The Fourth World (1997) on Reprise Records before dissolving in 2000. The reformed lineup as Maroon 5 (with James Valentine joining as guitarist in 2001) released their debut Songs About Jane (2002), which became a commercial breakthrough with the singles This Love, Harder to Breathe, and She Will Be Loved. They have continued releasing material across multiple decades with progressively pop-oriented production approaches. Adam Levine was a face of the band through his parallel work as a coach on The Voice (2011-2019) and 2024 return. They headlined the Super Bowl LIII halftime show in 2019.
