Vernor Winfield McBriare Smith IV, performing as Mac DeMarco, was born in Duncan, British Columbia on April 30, 1990 and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. He launched his recording career as Makeout Videotape in the late 2000s before adopting the Mac DeMarco name in 2012.
