Simbiatu Abisola Abiola Ajikawo, performing as Little Simz, was born in Islington, London on February 23, 1994. She is of Yoruba Nigerian heritage. She launched her recording career as a teenager via her own AGE 101 Music label. Her work has been independent across her catalog, with extensive critical attention building progressively across her albums. Her 2021 album Sometimes I Might Be Introvert won the 2022 Mercury Prize and the 2022 Brit Award for Best New Artist - making her one of the few independent British rappers to achieve mainstream British music industry recognition.
