LA LOM (the Los Angeles League of Musicians) formed in Los Angeles in 2019 around Zac Sokolow, Jake Faulkner, and Nicholas Baker. The trio launched their public profile through residencies at LA restaurants and through extensive live performances of Latin and Caribbean instrumental music. They signed with Verve Records and have continued building their audience through both their distinctive instrumental aesthetic and the broader Latin music revival of the early 2020s.
LA LOM's sound combines instrumental, Latin music, cumbia, bolero, salsa, Latin soul, and chicha with extensive guitar-driven arrangements (Sokolow's tremolo electric guitar work), bass and drums-driven arrangements, and Latin and Caribbean musical influence drawing on classic Mexican and Cuban traditions.
