About Incubus
Incubus formed in Calabasas, California in 1991 when the band members were teenagers in high school. They signed with Epic Records in 1996 and released their major-label debut S.C.I.E.N.C.E. (1997), with commercial expansion across Make Yourself (1999, with the single Drive) and Morning View (2001). They have continued releasing material across multiple decades alongside member side and solo projects.
Sound and style
Incubus's sound combines alternative rock, alternative metal, funk metal, post-grunge, and progressive rock with Boyd's distinctive vocal delivery, Einziger's intricate guitar work (incorporating jazz and progressive influences alongside heavier alternative rock), and the band's signature integration of DJ/turntable elements after Kilmore's 1998 join. Their work bridges late-1990s alternative metal and broader contemporary rock traditions.
