Nicholas D. Miller, performing as Illenium, was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 26, 1990 and is currently based in Denver, Colorado. He launched his recording career in 2013 and has become a defining figure in melodic dubstep, future bass, and contemporary electronic dance music. His Ascend (2019) reached number 14 on the Billboard 200, and his subsequent material has continued commercial success. He has spoken publicly about overdose recovery and mental health, with autobiographical lyrical content.
