About Ice Nine Kills
Ice Nine Kills formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 2000 around Spencer Charnas while the founding members were in high school. The band's name derives from Kurt Vonnegut's novel Cat's Cradle. The band's concept work has become widely associated with horror film and literary references - particularly on The Silver Scream (2018), which features songs based on classic horror films, and its sequel The Silver Scream 2 (2021).
Sound and style
Ice Nine Kills's sound combines metalcore, post-hardcore, theatrical rock, and horror metal with Charnas's distinctive vocal range (combining sung and screamed vocals), anthemic choruses, and extensive lyrical and visual engagement with horror film traditions.
