About Hippo Campus
Hippo Campus formed in St. Paul, Minnesota in 2013 when the band members were students at Saint Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists. They signed with Grand Jury Music for their early releases and partnered with Transgressive Records for international distribution. They have built a sustained audience in the contemporary indie rock scene through extensive touring. Frontman Jake Luppen has also released solo material as Lupin.
Sound and style
Hippo Campus's sound combines indie rock, indie pop, alternative rock, and jangle pop with bright melodic arrangements, intricate guitar interplay, Luppen's distinctive vocal delivery, and the addition of trumpet (from DeCarlo Jackson) as part of the band's signature arrangement palette.
