Haim is the Los Angeles band of sisters Este, Danielle, and Alana Haim, formed in 2007 and channeling Fleetwood Mac-schooled California rock through modern indie pop production. Haim formed in Los Angeles in 2007 around the three Haim sisters - Este, Danielle, and Alana - daughters of musical family parents (their parents had performed in the family cover band Rockinhaim during the sisters' childhood). They signed with Polydor and Columbia and released their debut Days Are Gone in 2013, with international commercial success. The band has had longtime collaborative relationships with Ariel Rechtshaid (production), Vampire Weekend's Rostam Batmanglij, and others. Alana Haim also acted in Paul Thomas Anderson's Licorice Pizza (2021). Women in Music Pt. III (2020) was nominated for the Album of the Year Grammy in 2021.
Haim's sound combines pop rock, indie rock, soft rock, alternative rock, R&B, and folk rock with extensive vocal harmonies between the sisters, classic California rock and pop reference points (Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Stevie Nicks), and contemporary indie pop production aesthetics. Their work has been a defining commercial indie rock template of the 2010s and 2020s.
