Gnarls Barkley

Gnarls Barkley was the duo of CeeLo Green and producer Danger Mouse, formed in 2003. Their debut St. Elsewhere (2006) delivered Crazy — the first single ever to top the UK chart on downloads alone — and remains a psychedelic-soul touchstone; The Odd Couple (2008) closed the run. About Gnarls Barkley

Gnarls Barkley formed in 2003 around CeeLo Green (Thomas DeCarlo Callaway, previously of Goodie Mob) and Danger Mouse (Brian Burton). Their debut St. Elsewhere (2006) and its lead single Crazy became international successes, with Crazy reaching number one in multiple countries including being the first single ever to top the UK chart based solely on download sales (April 2006, before its physical release). The duo released their second album The Odd Couple in 2008 and has been inactive since.

Sound and style

Gnarls Barkley's sound combines neo-soul, R&B, hip hop soul, psychedelic soul, and pop with CeeLo Green's distinctive soulful vocal delivery and Danger Mouse's signature dense, sample-driven production. Their work bridges contemporary neo-soul with broader pop and hip hop production approaches.
