About Glaive
Ash Gutierrez, performing as Glaive (lowercase styling), was born in Hendersonville, North Carolina on February 22, 2005. He launched his recording career on SoundCloud during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020 as a teenager, with his early work establishing him as one of the prominent voices in the contemporary hyperpop and digicore scenes. He signed with Interscope Records in 2020. He has continued releasing material across multiple EPs, mixtapes, and LPs in the early 2020s, with progressively expanded sonic territory beyond his hyperpop origins.
Sound and style
Glaive's sound combines hyperpop, digicore, emo, alternative rock, and indie pop with extensive use of pitched-up vocals, distorted production, and synthesis of post-emo, pop punk, and electronic music traditions. His work has been a defining voice in the early-2020s hyperpop and digicore scenes alongside ericdoa, midwxst, and others.
