Four Tet

Four Tet is Kieran Hebden, the London electronic musician who has been folding sampled acoustic textures into dance music since 1998, after his years in math rock band Fridge. Rounds (2003) basically defined folktronica and still sounds fresh; There Is Love in You (2010) is another high point. Find Four Tet vinyl, CDs, and reissues at Wax Trax Records.

About Four Tet

Kieran Hebden, performing as Four Tet, was born in London on May 3, 1978. He was a member of the math rock band Fridge (with Adem Ilhan and Sam Jeffers) from 1995 to 2008 while pursuing his Four Tet solo project from 1998 onward. He runs Text Records, his own electronic label home. He has had extensive collaboration with Burial and Thom Yorke (the trio's various releases) and has produced for Madonna, Drake, and others. He is widely considered one of the defining contemporary electronic musicians.

Sound and style

Four Tet's sound combines electronic, folktronica, IDM, electronic dance music, ambient, broken beat, and post-rock with extensive use of sampled acoustic instruments, jazz-influenced harmonic content, and dance-music-derived rhythmic frameworks. His work bridges electronic dance music with experimental electronic, ambient, and folk traditions.
