Harley Edward Streten, performing as Flume, was born in Sydney, Australia on November 5, 1991. He signed with Future Classic (the Sydney-based electronic label) as a teenager and released his self-titled debut Flume in 2012, which became a commercial success in Australia and internationally. His 2016 album Skin won the Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album in 2017, making him one of the youngest Grammy winners in the category. He has continued releasing material across multiple labels in the 2010s and 2020s, with extensive collaboration with Chet Faker, Vince Staples, and others.
