About Ed Sheeran
Edward Christopher Sheeran was born in Halifax, West Yorkshire on February 17, 1991 and raised in Framlingham, Suffolk. He moved to London in 2008 and self-released multiple EPs before signing with Asylum/Atlantic Records in 2011. His debut full-length + (2011) reached number one in the UK; his subsequent albums x (2014), ÷ (2017), and = (2021) achieved sustained global commercial success. His single Shape of You (2017) topped charts in dozens of countries simultaneously. He has won four Grammy Awards, has multiple albums certified Diamond, and is one of the best-selling music artists of all time with more than 200 million records sold worldwide.
Sound and style
Ed Sheeran's sound combines pop, folk pop, acoustic, and pop rock with extensive incorporation of hip hop and R&B rhythmic approaches, layered loop pedal arrangements in his live performances, and confessional singer-songwriter lyrical content.
