About Dying Fetus
Dying Fetus formed in Annapolis, Maryland in 1991 around John Gallagher. The band has experienced multiple lineup changes across their history, with Gallagher as the constant founding member. They have been on Relapse Records throughout most of their mature career, releasing a sustained run of brutal death metal and technical death metal albums across more than three decades.
Sound and style
Dying Fetus's sound combines brutal death metal, technical death metal, deathgrind, and slam death metal with extremely heavy down-tuned guitar work, breakneck drumming, and Gallagher's signature low-pitched growled vocals. Their work has been a defining influence on subsequent generations of brutal and technical death metal acts.
