About Deltron 3030

Deltron 3030 formed in 1998 as a collaboration between Del the Funky Homosapien (Teren Delvon Jones), Dan the Automator (Daniel Nakamura), and Kid Koala (Eric San). The trio's 2000 self-titled debut Deltron 3030 was a concept album set in the year 3030, with extensive science fiction worldbuilding and an unusually expansive cast of guest contributors. The album is widely regarded as one of the defining alternative hip hop albums of the 2000s and a landmark of conceptual hip hop. The trio's follow-up Event II was released in 2013, with another long gap before any subsequent projects.

Sound and style

Deltron 3030's sound combines alternative hip hop, conceptual hip hop, jazz rap, and Dan the Automator's distinctive sample-driven, cinematic production. The 2000 album featured an extensive cast of guest contributors including Damon Albarn, Sean Lennon, Money Mark, Mike Patton, Prince Paul, and many others. Event II expanded the guest contributor approach further.
