Deadmau5

Deadmau5 is Joel Zimmerman, the Canadian producer born in Niagara Falls, Ontario in 1981, whose progressive house and LED mouse-head identity helped define EDM festival culture — he also runs the mau5trap label. Random Album Title (2008) and 4x4=12 (2010) are the classic entry points; Where's the Drop? (2018) recasts the catalog orchestrally. Explore Deadmau5 vinyl, CDs, and reissues at Wax Trax Records.

About Deadmau5

Joel Thomas Zimmerman, performing as Deadmau5, was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario on January 5, 1981. He began releasing electronic music in the late 1990s and gained international recognition with progressive house and electro house material in the late 2000s. He runs mau5trap Recordings, his own label home for his recent catalog and other electronic artists. His signature Mau5head visual identity (an LED mouse-head costume) became one of the defining visual elements of late-2000s and 2010s EDM festival culture.

Sound and style

Deadmau5's sound combines progressive house, electro house, techno, electronic dance music, and increasingly ambient, downtempo, and experimental electronic territory. His work bridges festival-oriented electronic dance music and more compositionally focused electronic music traditions.
