Com Truise

Com Truise is Seth Haley, the New Jersey-born electronic musician whose name is a spoonerism of Tom Cruise and whose analog synths helped define the early-2010s synthwave revival. Galactic Melt (2011) on Ghostly International is the classic — pure '80s circuitry filtered through a modern lens — with Iteration (2017) a strong follow-up. About Com Truise

Seth Haley, performing as Com Truise, is an American electronic musician based in Brooklyn (born 1983 in New Jersey). The Com Truise name is a spoonerism of Tom Cruise. He signed with Ghostly International for his debut full-length Galactic Melt (2011) and has continued releasing material on the label across more than a decade. He is widely considered one of the defining figures of the contemporary synthwave revival of the early 2010s.

Sound and style

Com Truise's sound combines synthwave, chillwave, electronic, and ambient with extensive use of analog synthesizers, drum machine programming, and processed reverb. His work draws heavily on 1980s electronic music reference points (Jan Hammer, Tangerine Dream, John Carpenter soundtracks) while maintaining a contemporary production aesthetic.
