This is the 1986 collaboration between Scottish dream pop band Cocteau Twins (Robin Guthrie, Elizabeth Fraser, Simon Raymonde) and American ambient composer Harold Budd (born December 24, 1936, in Los Angeles; died December 8, 2020). Budd had previously collaborated extensively with Brian Eno on the Ambient series and other albums. The single album The Moon and the Melodies was recorded together and released by 4AD in 1986. The album is credited to all four musicians by full name rather than as Cocteau Twins.
