About Clairo
Claire Elizabeth Cottrill was born in Atlanta, Georgia on August 18, 1998 and raised in Carlisle, Massachusetts. She gained early viral attention through her 2017 song Pretty Girl. She signed with FADER Label and released her debut full-length Immunity (2019), co-produced by Rostam Batmanglij. Her follow-up Sling (2021), produced by Jack Antonoff, marked a deliberate shift toward folk and chamber pop. Charm (2024) continued her evolution, this time produced by Leon Michels with Daptone-adjacent soul aesthetics.
Sound and style
Clairo's sound has evolved markedly across her catalog. Her early work was rooted in lo-fi indie and bedroom pop; Immunity introduced more polished indie pop production; Sling moved toward chamber pop, folk, and 1970s soft rock; Charm incorporated 1960s and 1970s soul influences with vintage analog recording approaches.
