About Chelsea Wolfe
Chelsea Wolfe was born in Sacramento, California on November 14, 1983. Her father was a country musician, and she began recording her own material in the mid-2000s. Her catalog moved through Pendu Sound and Sargent House before signing with Loma Vista Recordings (a Concord-distributed imprint) for She Reaches Out to She Reaches Out to She (2024). Her work has consistently engaged with gothic, doom, and folk traditions, and she has collaborated extensively with Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou and others across her catalog.
Sound and style
Chelsea Wolfe's sound combines gothic rock, doom metal, folk, neofolk, drone, and electronic music with atmospheric production and dramatic vocal delivery. Her albums have shifted between heavier doom and metal-influenced work (Abyss, Hiss Spun) and quieter, often acoustic folk material (Birth of Violence), with consistent thematic and aesthetic cohesion.
