Cavetown

Cavetown is Robin Skinner, the English singer-songwriter and producer from Cambridge who built a devoted following from bedroom pop uploads as a teenager before signing with Sire. Lemon Boy (2018) and Sleepyhead (2020) are the usual starting points — intimate ukulele-and-guitar songs about mental health and identity. Shop Cavetown vinyl, CDs, and reissues at Wax Trax Records.

About Cavetown

Robin Skinner, performing as Cavetown, was born in Cambridge, England on December 22, 1998. He began uploading music to YouTube and SoundCloud as a teenager, with his early work centered on intimate bedroom pop recordings. His Bandcamp self-releases attracted a online following, particularly among younger LGBTQ+ audiences. He signed with Sire Records (a subsidiary of Warner Records) and continues to release material through that partnership. He has also worked extensively as a producer for other indie artists including Chloe Moriondo and Tessa Violet.

Sound and style

Cavetown's sound combines bedroom pop, indie folk, indie pop, and lo-fi indie with intimate production approaches, ukulele and acoustic guitar arrangements, and Skinner's distinctive higher-register vocals. His songwriting frequently addresses mental health, gender identity, queerness, and personal growth.
