Broadcast were an English electronic and indie pop band formed in Birmingham in 1995 around Trish Keenan and James Cargill, recording mostly for Warp Records. Their work drew heavily on 1960s library music, vintage soundtrack composition, and French electronic music influences. Trish Keenan died on January 14, 2011 from H1N1 pneumonia complications at age 42, ending the band's active recording trajectory. James Cargill continues to oversee posthumous releases and archival work.
