Blink-182 formed in Poway, California in 1992 as Blink (the -182 was added in 1995 after a name dispute). The original trio of Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge, and Scott Raynor recorded the band's first three releases before Travis Barker replaced Raynor in 1998. The Hoppus/DeLonge/Barker lineup recorded the band's most commercially successful work. DeLonge departed in 2015 and was replaced by Matt Skiba (of Alkaline Trio); the classic lineup reunited in October 2022.
Blink-182's sound is defined by melodic pop punk with skate punk speed, dual-vocal trade-offs between Hoppus and DeLonge, and pop sensibility. Their 2003 self-titled album incorporated more experimental and atmospheric elements alongside their core sound.
