About Basement

Basement formed in Ipswich, England in 2009 with a lineup of Andrew Fisher on vocals, Alex Henery and Ronan Crix on guitars, Duncan Stewart on bass, and James Fisher (Andrew's brother) on drums. They signed with Run for Cover Records and released their debut album I Wish I Could Stay Here in 2011. The band went on hiatus from 2012 to 2014 due to band members pursuing other commitments, then returned with Promise Everything (2016) and signed with Fueled by Ramen for Beside Myself (2018).

Sound and style

Basement's sound combines emo, post-hardcore, alternative rock, and 1990s-influenced grunge, with arrangements drawing on Sunny Day Real Estate, Nirvana, and the broader 1990s rock canon alongside contemporary emo. Their work is characterized by Andrew Fisher's emotional vocal range from clean melodic singing to screamed delivery, paired with melodic guitar interplay.
