About Arca

Alejandra Ghersi was born in Caracas, Venezuela on October 14, 1989, and grew up between Venezuela and the United States. She attended NYU's Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music and emerged in the early 2010s as both a solo artist and as a producer. She has produced material on Kanye West's Yeezus (2013), Björk's Vulnicura (2015) and subsequent albums, FKA twigs' LP1 (2014), Frank Ocean's Endless and Blonde (2016), and Rosalía's KAOS (2025), among many others. Her solo work appears on Mute Records and XL Recordings.

Sound and style

Arca's sound combines experimental electronic music, deconstructed club, Latin pop influences, and avant-garde production. Her work moves between abstract sound design (early Xen, Mutant) and more song-based pop and reggaetón material (KICK i through KICK iiiii), while consistently centering experimental textures and emotionally direct vocals.
