About Altin Gun
Altin Gun formed in Amsterdam in 2016 by bassist Jasper Verhulst, who recruited an international lineup combining Dutch and Turkish musicians. The band has been associated with Glitterbeat Records (Europe) and ATO Records, performing primarily Turkish folk and pop material from the 1960s and 1970s, often associated with Anatolian rock pioneers like Selda Bagcan and Baris Manco, alongside original compositions. Their second album Gece (2019) was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best World Music Album.
Sound and style
Altin Gun's sound combines Turkish psychedelic folk and Anatolian rock with funk, electronic music, and contemporary indie production. Their arrangements feature Turkish saz, modern bass and drums, vintage synthesizers, and shared vocals in Turkish.
