Alexander Giannascoli was born in Havertown, Pennsylvania on January 25, 1993. He began self-releasing albums via Bandcamp in 2010 while still in high school, building a cult following that led to physical reissues of his early work via labels including Lucky Number and Orchid Tapes. He signed with Domino Recording Company in 2015 for Beach Music and has remained on Domino since. He played guitar and contributed production on Frank Ocean's Endless and Blonde (2016) and has since become known as one of the most influential indie songwriters of his generation.
Alex G's music combines indie rock, lo-fi, slacker rock, and folk with experimental and pitch-shifted vocal techniques.
