About Adele

Adele Laurie Blue Adkins was born in Tottenham, London on May 5, 1988. She graduated from the BRIT School in 2006 and signed with XL Recordings the same year after a friend posted her demo on Myspace. She released her debut album 19 in 2008, named for her age during recording. Her subsequent albums 21 (2011), 25 (2015), and 30 (2021) have followed the same naming convention. In the US, her albums are released through Columbia Records.

Sound and style

Adele's sound combines pop, soul, and contemporary R&B with traditional balladry. Her work draws on classic soul and pop influences, often built around piano or acoustic guitar and her distinctive contralto voice. Production has involved frequent collaborators including Paul Epworth, Ryan Tedder, Greg Kurstin, and Inflo.
