Illa J is a solo artists, former member of legendary group Slum Village. Active in the music industry since 2006 in L.A and Detroit, Illa J has released two solo albums; 2008's Yancey Boys via Delicious Vinyl and 2015's self-titled LP Illa J via Bastard Jazz Records. Steeped in the sounds of Motown-era Detroit, Home is a beautiful collaboration between Illa J’s soothing vocals and Calvin Valentine’s soul-soaked production. From the very first song, the album greets you like a heart-warming welcome mat at the foot of your grandmother’s front door.
