Gram Parsons tried to bring his country manifesto to the Byrds with Sweetheart of the Rodeo but was shuddered from the spotlight by Roger McGuinn.  Gilded Palace of Sin is Parsons at the height of his cosmic powers, bringing together an iconic mix of blue-eyed soul and country music.  The band was killer too- Chris Hillman (Byrds), Chris Etheridge (Willie Nelson, Guy Clark), and Sneeky Pete (former animator turned pedal steel wizard) brought the Flying Burrito Brothers to heights yet to be seen.  Essential for any lover of music.
